What to Expect with Baby’s First Day at Home
How is it possible the staff has let me leave the hospital with such a helpless little creature? I had these thoughts on the day I brought my baby home. My newborn seemed so different than those chubby babies I had babysat - and I was totally responsible for her health and well being! It had finally hit me; I was the parent, the one who magically has all the answers. Apparently there was no secret “confidence booster switch” which was flipped into the ON position after giving birth. Could I do this? It did not seem possible I could be as capable as she? The panic began to set in.
I found that placing my baby into the car seat was quite a feat. We had bought the best baby travel system we could find. The convenience of having an infant seat that fit perfectly in my car or stroller was wonderful. The previously perfect infant seat seemed to have grown to huge proportions once our new baby was lost in it! Wasn’t she safer in my arms than alone in a car seat! Logic and my husband managed to convince me to let go. Since they have limited muscle control, newborns end up scrunched down into one corner of their car seat. My husband calls it the “amoeba” stage. You should purchase some padded support for those first few weeks of amoeba life.
Once we were home, I struggled with needing to rest and wanting to be with our baby. Plus, she seemed constantly hungry. It was quite challenging to find a place in our home for nursing while we were both learning the process. Most moms find they need to try several positions before finding the one or two which work best. Some people use ring slings, fabric carriers that allow you to carry the baby around with you. If adjusted correctly, it can be a great way to position the baby for nursing. I preferred to use my ring sling as a convenient hands-free carrier. Both baby and I found we preferred the rocking chair for nursing.
My baby needed changing every time she ate and often times in between her meals. It seems that newborns can put out an impressive amount. I had chosen to use Fuzzi Bunz cloth diapers. The adjustable elastic really helped in the learning stage for me and my baby. Some interesting diapering issues arise from a a “liquid only” diet.” Most of the biggest diaper issues occurred in the first week. Be prepared for the unexpected is the motto you will live by! No matter how good the cloth diapers were, they only worked as well as my attempts to fasten them. Of course they will not work at all if you do not fasten them quickly enough!
Although that first day home is daunting, it is the start of an amazing new chapter. Adaptability is the key to the first months. Your abilities will be constantly tested. I constantly called on all my resources, pretending to be as capable and in control as my mother. One day I realized she had probably been pretending as well - that day I realized I was a parent too.

Which Infant Carrier Will Offer Your Baby the Most Benefit?
Several pediatric studies have found that wearing your baby offers important benefits to your baby’s mental, emotional, and physical development. There are several types of infant carriers that a parent can use to achieve optimal developmental benefits for their child. Purchasing a baby carrier can overwhelm many parents. Depending upon your body type and your personal requirements, the best type of baby carrier for you will be different than for other families.
The traditional sling or pouch sling is one type of baby carrier. The pouch sling drapes over one shoulder and the baby is secured in the fabric carrier. A popular brand of sling is HotSlings. An advantage of slings is they can be used from birth – a very good option for moms with newborns. Parents who are very different sizes and body shapes would not do well with the sling type baby carrier as they are not adjustable. Also, some parents find that one shoulder bearing all the weight is uncomfortable.
Ring slings are a variation on the more traditional sling. Ring slings provide you an adjustable alternative to the traditional pouch sling as well as a great choice for those who want to share between parents of very different sizes. It’s also a very popular option for plus size moms.
An alternative to traditional or ring-style slings are baby wrap carriers, or wraps. Of all the carrier options available, the wrap is both the most versatile and challenging type of carrier to master. A popular brand of wraps is the Ellaroo. There are many ways to swathe your baby with the long rectangular cloth which is a baby wrap carrier. The wrap can be tied in a lot of configuration which makes the wrap the most flexible carrier to use but can be the most intimidating to parents.
An emerging carrier on the market which originated in China is the mei tai. A mei tai carrier is a rectangular piece of cloth with parallel straps emerging from each corner. Baby is supported to your chest, back or side using the rectangular piece of cloth and the straps are criss-crossed around you and below your baby’s bottom or across his back for more security. Mei tai’s can hold newborns up to toddlers, and because the straps can be made at any length is great for sharing and for plus size moms.
Today’s common baby carriers tend to be more modern in style. These are almost like backpacks that you strap to your front or back and your baby sits in it like a seat. Some popular brands are Graco, Eddie Bauer, and Snuggly. The very simple use of this type of carrier makes it a good choice for parents that plan to spend a lot of time on walks or taking hikes with their infant. The carriers keep the baby in place and secure against you.
Regardless of the type of baby carrier you choose you and your baby will benefit from the advantages of baby wearing. Wearing your baby makes it easier to care for older siblings. It is also easier to go out and travel because you don’t have to worry about lugging around large strollers. Wearing your baby is a wonderful way to cultivate a strong and healthy relationship with your baby while tending to the mundane tasks of your day.

Infertility Insurance
Infertility Insurance
Thanks to advances in technology, science, and medicine, there are many solutions for infertility. For couples who are determined to start a family, have their hearts set on having children, and who have been trying to conceive for years without success, infertility treatments and options are a godsend. However, what many people do not consider is that infertility treatments can be quite costly. Once you have explored your options, you will soon see that not only do the treatments cost thousands of dollars but so too does the actual procedure. If the first procedure doesn't work, finding the funds to try again and again can be nearly impossible or can seem daunting. This is where infertility insurance plays a major role in the happiness of such couples. If you know that you and your loved one are committed to having children and going through infertility treatments, then infertility insurance can help you do just that. The following includes some basic information regarding how such plans work.
Infertility insurance is something that helps couples go through various treatments and procedures for infertility without going bankrupt or losing all of their money. Basically, you can find such policies or plans from insurance companies around the world. By paying a monthly premium, the insurance company will give the couple a plan that helps the couple try a range of treatments and procedures. This could mean everything from testing to artificial insemination. A couple that knowingly invests in insurance, it is a good idea to consult a doctor. This way, you will know exactly how much insurance or coverage you will need before proceeding with infertility treatments and procedures.
When it comes to infertility insurance, there are three basic types. Standard insurance is a very specific fertility which has a monthly premium. You need to read such plans carefully because the plans really will only cover basic or standard infertility treatments. Of the many type of infertility insurance the refund program is another choice. Such a plan requires that the couple in question pay for their fertility treatments and procedures. They can rest assured that the couple will get a percentage back from the money they have paid towards the bills. Lastly, the final form of infertility insurance is one that provides financing or a loan to help couples pay for their procedures and treatments. If the couple in question is unsuccessful with conceiving or having a baby, they may not have to pay the full loan back.
To invest in infertility insurance, a couple will most likely have to meet some pre-set qualifications or criteria. For example, the couple in question may have to be beneath the age of 40, may have to already have a basic insurance plan in place, and may have to have the plan or policy for a year before they start using it for treatments and procedures. Additionally, some companies may even require proof that you have been unable to conceive for anywhere from a year to five years. Thus, it pays to sit down and compare different plans before deciding on any one company.
Always take the time to sit down with your loved one and decide exactly how much coverage you need. You want to make sure that the right plan for you is one that is financially responsible. If you are going with a standard insurance plan, be sure that you can cover the monthly premiums. Always take the time to do your research about various companies and the plans they offer. The current and former clients of a company say a lot about them. In time, if you do your research, you can find infertility insurance that will help you and your loved one expand your family to include a little bundle of joy.

Maternity Wear For The Office: Simple And Sophisticated
Dressing for the office is easy during your first trimester. A lot of your clothes will still fit, even if they are a little tight. Your second trimester is a little more difficult. Your belly has begun to grow to the point many of your outfits no longer fit comfortably. By the seventh month, you might have trouble seeing your feet much less fitting into the sleek and trim professional attire you once wore. Your body is changing quickly and if you’d like to keep your job, your wardrobe may need to undergo a few changes, too.
Thankfully, you can dress comfortably while maintaining your professional image throughout your third trimester. It just requires a little savvy wardrobe planning. In this article, you’ll learn tips for looking great at the office during your last three months of pregnancy.
Reintroduce Suits To Your Daily Attire
Corporate America has taken on much more of a business casual air. Companies in every industry have encouraged their employees to move their suits to the back of their closets. Retiring your suits in favor of more casual wear has a lot of perks when you’re not pregnant. You can mix and match easily while allowing your creativity to roam (within reason).
Your third trimester is a different story. Your growing body just won’t look the same in your existing outfits. Now’s the time to introduce a few dark maternity suits back into your wardrobe. Not only are they easy to accessorize, but they’ll flatter your body with a refined and professional look.
Simple Skirts and Pants
Every mom-to-be should own two or three pairs of black pants. They can match practically any blouse and jacket, and they’ll fit seamlessly with nearly all shoe types. Wear them with a t-shirt or a blazer, boots or sandals, socks or no socks. You’ll have plenty on your mind during the last three months of your pregnancy. Black maternity pants will ease the burden of choosing professional clothes for the office each day.
Like black pants, simple straight skirt can give you a slimming look. They’re also easy to mix, match, and accessorize. For example, a dark skirt and earth-toned blazer can blend perfectly with each other while the blazer can also be worn with your black pants.
Accessorize
Let your dark suits, pants, and skirts - along with a smattering of colorful blouses - form the foundation of your maternity clothes. Use refined necklaces, earrings, and scarves to add a dash of sparkle to your image. The perfect earrings can inject an air of sophistication or an air of whimsy (depending on the earrings), while a colorful scarf will give your professional attire a bit of zest.
Dressing appropriately for the office during your third trimester doesn’t have to be complicated. Making a few smart maternity wear choices will have you looking great, feeling comfortable, and spending less time worrying about both.

Maternity Clothes - Basics You’ll Need
As your belly grows during your first trimester, your clothes will start fitting a little more snug than you’re used to. Pretty soon you’ll be looking through your partner’s closet for button down shirts and other clothes that provide more room to grow. Eventually, you’ll outgrow them, too.
Almost all expectant mothers are surprised by the rapid changes to their body from trimester to trimester. Your wardrobe needs to reflect your expanding frame. Throughout your pregnancy, you’ll discover that there are some essential Maternity Clothing items you’ll need to buy. Four are listed below.
Larger Bras
Your breasts will start to grow very soon after you get pregnant. This is one of the changes your body goes through in order to accommodate the little one growing within you. If your chest was relatively flat prior to conceiving, this might be a welcome feature of your pregnancy. On the other hand, if you already had a large chest, a larger size may imply discomfort and back pain.
Plan to invest in some larger bras. They will help support your breasts (growing more every day, it seems!) and relieve stress on your back and shoulders.
Expandable Pants And Maternity Jeans
At some point, you won’t be able to fit into the pants you wore prior to becoming pregnant. You’ll need to expand your maternity wardrobe. Pants with drawstrings or elastic waists will become invaluable to your comfort. You might consider low-rise pants that hang on the hips instead of the waste.
Another absolute must is a pair of maternity jeans. They’ve come a long way over the last several years and now offer comfort, style, and convenience. You’ll not only wear them throughout your pregnancy, but well into the slimming down phase after you give birth.
Comfortable Shirts and Fitted Tees
Maternity t-shirts are now designed to fit snugly around your growing body while showing off your best curves. You’re no longer forced to buy t-shirts that are seven sizes larger than you would normally wear. The same is true for halter tops, blouses, and other shirts. While they emphasize comfort, they’re designed to let you show off your curves with a dash of style.
Comfy Shoes
You might not realize it, but your feet can influence your mood. They’re tasked with carrying the brunt of the weight; if they’re uncomfortable, they’ll let you know. The problem is that your feet will expand during pregnancy in the same way your stomach will. Meaning you’ll also need to invest in larger shoes. To further ensure your comfort, leave your high heels in your closet and opt for pumps, sneakers, and sandals that are easy to slip on and off.
As you get closer to childbirth, you’ll care a lot about how comfortable you are. The clothes and shoes you wear will play a key role in providing that comfort. Plan ahead and stock your closet with the four maternity clothes basics we’ve described above.

Exercising During Pregnancy
Exercise and Pregnancy Prescribing a medicine for pregnant ladies is a complex process. Before obstetricians and gynecologists decide which dose of which drug can best treat a condition without putting any damaging side effects on the mummy and the baby, they consider the patient’s age, general health, the quantity of months before delivery, tolerance for medicines, and any other drugs the pregnant patient may be taking.

She wishes practical health messages in keeping herself and the baby healthy. Therefore, for mothers or wannabe mothers who aren’t yet aware why they should exert some effort in engaging into moderate, ordinary exercise, here’s a list of some of its benefits so that you will be able to understand the explanation why pregnant women have to exercise regularly :
one. Defiance against fatigue As muscle becomes fatigued, it produces less force. To accomplish a job like climbing the steps, as an example, or shoveling snow, more units of muscle must be called into play to back up the wearied muscles. The tired muscles are both less efficient and less effective. Thus, this will just put more stress on the pregnant girl thanks to the weight that is continuously adding up each day. That’s why knackered muscles will typically result to leg cramps or sore muscles. What each pregnant lady must know is that exercise improves the condition of the muscles and their capability to work longer without fatigue.
two. Reduce backaches even when you sit or stand, some muscles are working, and such relatively easy postures can tax some muscles and cause fatigue. The muscles of the lower back, for instance, can be exhausted and worn out by the effort of keeping erect when a pregnant woman stand still for several hours. With exercise, a pregnant lady can correct this mistake by developing her posture.
three. Increase the quantity of oxygen Work and exercise depend on glycogen, a substance produced by the body from complicated carbs and stored muscles and liver. The provision of glycogen in the muscles determines and limits the duration of activity. Exercise exhausts the glycogen in the muscles and leads to weariness.
However, when glycogen is used by strenuous activity, it is replaced in quantities greater than before, as if the body recognized the need to lay in a bigger supply of fuel. therefore, oxidation is essential for converting glycogen to the energy that pregnant women need to wiggle a finger, flex a muscle, or practice the lungs and heart for some blowing action during normal delivery.
These are some of many benefits exercise can bring to pregnant women. Besides, nothing is totally wrong for a pregnant woman doing some moderate exercises. The only important thing to remember is that before starting an exercise programme, whether pregnant or not, it’s best to visit your doctor. As they say, doctors know best!
